In my programs list

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 4 (118 Mb) and
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 6 (119 Mb)

Do I need both of these or does update 6 include

No, you only need the latest one, which by the way, is update 8. You can
uninstall older updates.
