from the library: 2002, ISBN 0-13-092738-4, "Core JAVA 2, Volume
II-Advanced Features",Sun Microsystems Press, it comes with a
CD-ROM .
I installed the jdk1.3.1_01 from the CD-ROM
onto my friends Windows
95? (not XP) computer. JAVAc and JAVAc foo.JAVA from the "
command "
MSDOS prompt thing gives "Bad command or
file name," rather than
compiling. so, I installed Forte
release 2.0, Community Edition
(Build 1160) from the CD. Using Forte, I could compile ok. does
forte compile on its own, or does it use 1.3, or 1.4? which one, pls
Next, I downloaded and installed j2sdk1.4.2, but I still get the same
errors from JAVAc and JAVAc foo.JAVA. to add insult to injury, I now
have TWO DIFFERENT compilers(?), since the 1.3.1 is still on my
*friends* harddrive. (it's worth noting that the 1.3.1 is just on
the C:\, while the 1.4.2
version is in the
program files, what the
heck's up with that? never mind that the 1.4 versions shoulda removed
the 1.3, to my thinking or at least've asked)
1.) how do I *uninstall* the 1.3 version safely and completely?
2.) how do I *uninstall* forte, safely and completely?
3.) how do I use the 1.4.2 JAVAc foo.JAVA? 'cause clearly I ain't
doin it right.
#3 is the
real kicker please. I suppose this is not even a JAVA
question, c'est la vie.
(for what it's worth, I have previously used the JAVAc foo.JAVA on
another computer succesfully yes, I'm in the correct
path /
directory /whatever and I spelled it correctly.)
ps: ls = dir
rm = del
mv = move
cp = copy
pico =?= edit
correct?
how do I rm *.
class , or rm
<dir> -r ?
how do I cat foo.JAVA, cat foo.JAVA -n, cat -n foo.JAVA blah.txt,
or cat -n foo.JAVA > blah2.txt, etc
and, uh, where's the FAQ? only vital question is #3

TSM installation (2)
doesn't always
work, only if those clients have a window of their own #KillInitClients=true LogDir=/var/log/gdm # You should probably never change this value unless you have a weird setup PidFile=/var/run/gdm.pid
