Try a different distribution. You've about 500+ to try!
(Is not choice great!!!)
Try different
compiler switches.
Try a different editor. There must be 200 different ones for
Linux .
Email the author with your problems.
Fill out a bugtraq report.
Read the
source and
write your own fixes.
........and when you discover that all your time has been used up do
yourself a favor and install
Windows and get your life back instead of
tinkering with Linux slopware.

Hi,
Have you tried finding the changelogs on MySQL's Web site? I imagine that
there are performance optimisations primarily because the
product is very
mature (in fact, quite humorously, MySQL employees used to tell the boss
that they no longer need to work because they had an excellent product).
PHP 4.x and 5.x aren't fully compatible, but for databases this shouldn't
be the case. An
upgrade to MySQL 5.x'd probably not cause any issues.
There's a little ongoing issue/FUD/speculation/convtroversy over MySQL not
giving access to the latest build unless you're a commercial (paying)
customer. This rumour comes from a guy who used to work at MySQL AB, but
anyway...
Hope it helps,
Roy
