CF 7 Cookie Issue

:confused;
background:
- 2 prod
server s one is running
ColdFusion 6 the other ColdFusion 7 (the reason is to ensure
CF 7 functions correctly w/half of our traffic for a few weeks)
- both have own external IP and users are
route d via round robin [def]DNS[/def] (Domain Name Service)
issue:
- someone logs into our
SSL area successfully but when they
click a
link to
run a report etc, they are kicked back out to login
screen as if they never
logged in
- this isn't happening for every user, just a few
- suspect it's a
cookie s issue because if we route them to a specific server
(e.g. www1 or www2) then they can "stick"; without that they do not
question:
- could this be the purge interval setting in ColdFusion 7 that is not part of ColdFusion 6? or
is it because we're running two versions of ColdFusion server
any help is appreciated.

I suspect it is to do with you clustering: user logs in on server1,
the cookie is set and
session started ON server1 (server2 has NO
idea), user clicks the link and gets round-robined to server2, user is
unknown on server2 -> user gets redirected to login screen.
The solution: either use "sticky" sessions or session replication.

Re: What could cause empty cftokens in cookies?
You might want to try and do a DNS listing for the entire domain and set up a crawler that examines the
cookie responses of each site. Jochem ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~|
